  • Abstract
The application of current limiting fuses to reduce short circuit duty is complicated by the current limiting aspects of modern breaker design. The problem of applying current limiting fuses in conjunction with modern design breakers is explored in a new installation. This installation is a 3000 kVA unit substation in a cogeneration facility. This paper analyzes a problem encountered in a design where modern breakers were installed downstream of current limiting fuses and extrapolates the findings to other applications
