Abstract
A novel setup for surface plasmon resonance sensing based on metal gratings has been proposed. A good linearity is observed in the computational results. Numerical simulation comparison between the proposed setup and conventional surface plasmon sensing based on prism coupler has been investigated. According to the numerical results, the sensitivity of the novel setup could be more than 650 deg RIU-1, while a conventional prism coupler-based system could reach 80 deg RIU-1 at most. High sensitivities over different measuring ranges could be easily achieved by changing the polar angle.
