Abstract
The finite element modelling permits the predetermination of the mechanical performance of an electromagnetic device. However, when taking into account the motion of a moving part the finite element mesh deforms. The accuracy of the field and force results is affected. The influence of the mesh quality principally near a corner of a magnetic core for the determination of the flux and the local force distribution is examined. For the movement modelling, an original technique which minimizes the mesh deformation is presented. This technique is applied to an axisymetric electromagnet to calculate its electromechanical characteristics
