Abstract :
The capability for landcover change detection using NOAA/AVHRR data was investigated using the combined data set of AVHRR and Landsat/TM. The discriminative capability of the spectra of AVHRR was evaluated using the regression analysis between the occupation of land cover classes obtained by the landcover classification of TM data and the spectral features of AVHRR. Fairly good correlations were obtained for the occupation of vegetation and urban classes, which suggested the possibility for the detection of landcover change by urban development using NOAA/AVHRR data
