Abstract
This paper proposes a new antenna structure named MS-MPYA that consists of a multi-sector monopole Yagi-Uda array on a circular ground plane. To numerically analyze MS-MPYA and clarify mutual sectors interaction when the antenna uses multiple sectors, the moment method which combines patch and wire models, is used. This paper introduces the following results. The beam width is reduced by 10.0 degrees in the horizontal plane due to mutual sectors interaction (compared to the single sector configuration). Setting metallic fin reflectors between each array is effective in eliminating the strong reflection that causes pattern instability. The MS-MPYA realizes a low-profile multi-beam antenna that offers a 30 degree beam with twelve sectors; the antenna height is 0.6 λ (λ:wave length), ground plane diameter is 10.1 λ, and array length is 3.5 λ. Experimental results confirm the accuracy of the analysis method used
