  • Abstract
An analysis of musical transients based on parametric modeling is carried out. The analysis procedure is implemented with frames of approximately 6 ms, with 75% overlapping between successive frames. The results show that most of the spectral information concerning the sound comes out in less than 10 ms. The position of some spectral peaks fluctuates quickly with time. An analysis/synthesis procedure similar to those used in speech coding is applied to a wide range of percussive sounds. The perceptual evaluation of the synthesized tones is used to assess the quality of the data provided by the analysis
