Abstract
This paper aims to demonstrate how new network and software technologies are a suitable basis for building a geographically distributed measurement laboratory. An architecture characterized by high reconfigurability, modularity, extendibility and reusability is proposed. The hardware and software solutions are discussed in details. The effectiveness of the proposed architecture is experimentally illustrated by an actual implementation
