Abstract :
The research presented in this paper proposes a new packet scheduling algorithm that provides a fair, class based, delay jitter controlled packet scheduling scheme that manages handoff and buffer occupancy for 4G wireless access systems. Improved quality of service (QoS) in mobile broadband IP high-speed downlink packet access (HSDPA) networks is an important focus for next generation networks. The new packet scheduling algorithm is implemented at both the IP and radio layer and reduces the handoff packet drop rate and packet forwarding rate. The proposed algorithm includes a step that removes contention between users with almost the same fairness measure value.
