Abstract :
Engineering of automated facilities requires to deal with hidden and case specific interdependencies between the involved disciplines and the technical artifacts. Each technical specification or design decision in one discipline can affect other disciplines. Interdependencies might be visible or known to the other disciplines, but due to the different domain specific languages used in the different disciplines, the visibility is not necessarily given. Between the different domain specific languages, information intersections exist, but also information gaps. Within this paper, the results of a case study on domain specific languages and interdependencies within the engineering process of automated facilities are presented. The paper gives an overview of the typically used domain specific languages in the context of the particular tasks and engineering artifacts. To identify and evaluate the cross discipline intersections a new method combining workflow and dataflow analysis is presented.
