Abstract :
While sophisticated remote sensing techniques are available for monitoring the water quality of large water bodies, no such system is available for narrow and small rivers. This investigation was hence directed to assess the feasibility of using equipment manufactured in India [Multiband Ground Truth Radiometer (MGTR)] for monitoring the suspended solids present in the sluggish and narrow river Pandu at Kanpur. Of several models proposed to monitor the suspended solids, the one which used derivative spectral reflectance of MGTR appeared to be most accurate
