  • Abstract
This paper presents an approach to the problem of localization in wireless sensor networks. For many applications, it is essential to know the absolute position of the network nodes. Due to the large number of nodes, it is not practicable assigning coordinates manually or equipping many or all nodes with GPS receivers. In our approach only a few anchor nodes with known position are used. The unknown nodes obtain their position by evaluating average hop distances between anchors and received signal strength. The proposed algorithm is centralized and based on a spring model.
