Abstract :
This paper presents an innovative simulation approach for power distribution in hybrid power systems (HPSs) using a root mean square (RMS) model for the electrical part of the system in combination with a set of differential equations to describe the dynamic behavior of the mechanical part of the system in the time scale. This new approach allows the simulation of complex hybrid power systems with a complex load flow model for the grid. In the introduced simulation model the lines, transformers and the geographical feed and demand distribution can be taken into consideration. The simulation results show that this technique has superior advantages in comparison with a normal full scale dynamic model since it is faster and needs less computational resources.
