  • Abstract
RF cavity resonance mode breakdown for the Fusion Ignition Experiment (IGNITEX) is studied. It is shown, using an average electron calculation, that the ionization rate is much larger than the loss rate and breakdown can be achieved with modest RF power. The cavity resonance mode favorable for breakdown is the TM (transverse magnetic) which has a resonance frequency of 246.5 MHz
