Abstract :
Multimode interference based devices have more advantage over the conventional couplers, power splitters, modulators, switches, etc. This is majorly due to the attractive design and fabrication tolerances that these devices offer. This paper aims to explore the effects of application of waveguide theory for mode propagation analysis of multimode interference devices. The paper highlights the changes in the distance and quality of self images formed. The paper also reports the effects of temperature change on the mode propagation constants and the device performance.
