Abstract :
This paper proposes the numerical calculation method for a prediction of hydroelastic deflection of a very large floating structure with the air chamber and the submerged vertical plate. It is impossible to assume the shape of VLFS to a thin plate because the draft of the air chamber unit or the vertical plate is deep. The three dimensionality of the elastic deflection is considered by using a general purpose program of the finite element method. The effectiveness of the deeper draft of them for the reduction is verified and that is not effect due to the wave energy absorption. Numerical experiments are carried out corresponding to a realistic very large floating structure in regular waves. The effect of the vertical plate and the air chamber with the OWC related to the reduction is investigated in this paper.
