Abstract :
The TRMM precipitation radar (PR) algorithms have been studied by the TRMM PR team. The radar products are classified and are shown according to the processing levels. The general processing structure suggests a primary division of radar algorithms into either deterministic or statistical techniques. The deterministic methods can be divided into backscattering and attenuation methods. Some candidate rain rate retrieval algorithms are introduced with their merits and demerits. The TRMM standard radar algorithms are also introduced according to the processing levels
