Abstract :
According to researches, insulator corona pulses through the ground line of the tower could be used to identify faulty insulators on transmission lines. But there are many noises in ground lines in field, which make it impossible to detect insulator corona pulses. Some methods of separating insulator corona pulses from these noises are described in this paper. A high frequency sensor with a filter is used to eliminate periodic noises, such as leakage current, harmonic and carrier. A pattern identification based on pulse statistic characteristics is used to remove pulse noises, such as HV line corona and line clip corona
