            Abstract : 
11-cm spatial-resolution distributed discrimination of strain and temperature is realized by measuring the Brillouin frequency shift and the birefringence from monitoring the dynamic grating spectrum in a polarization-maintaining fiber. The distributed discriminative errors are estimated as low as 12 muepsiv for strain and 0.3degC for temperature, respectively.
