Abstract
This paper presents an analytical design of a permanent magnet claw-pole motor for small water pump applications with a wet running rotor. Firstly, initial technical and geometrical data for the motor are obtained from the properties of the wet running rotor and the applied materials. In the next step, the general procedure of an iterative motor design is explained. The single steps of this procedure are described by designing a particular claw-pole motor to reach a specified operation point. Finally, this analytical design is verified by measurements.
