Abstract :
The authors have realized a single mode continuously tunable midinfrared vertical external cavity surface emitting lasers (VECSEL). The VECSEL is optically pumped using a 1.55 μm laser diode. A much shorter cavity with ~100 μm length was used. Due to the resulting wide free spectral range, only one longitudinal mode can develop.
