Abstract :
Lasers with a frequency-shifted feedback (FSF) cavity are capable of producing energetic optical pulses in the picosecond domain. The advantage of the FSF method is the strong mechanism of mode-locking start-up, which allows steady-state short pulse regime to be achieved for an extended range of laser parameters. Here we present the first mode-locked semiconductor disk laser based on the FSF concept.
