Abstract
With the background of increasing needs for analysis on environmental information in recent years, the authors attempted to study the GIS exploitable for analysis on oceanic environment information which is considered to exhibit higher effects of systematization. In starting the study, they grasped the functions required for the analysis of oceanic environment information by conducting a questionnaire investigation to related technical experts and they analyzed past examples. Based on these results, the authors discussed the processing function required for the system and structure of a database, and designed the system configuration. Also, they constructed a part of the system functions as a pilot system, and confirmed the applicability and efficiency. Through this study, they were able to find many future prospects for the GIS which can be used for the comprehensive analysis of oceanic environment information
