Abstract
A non-recursive algorithm with low complexity is presented that permits a receiver to quantify the reliability of segments within an estimated code sequence. This reliability output may be used for example in repeat request schemes with partial retransmissions, for decoding concatenated code structures or in error concealment schemes.
