Abstract
The present weather radar equation is based on the assumption of incoherent scattering for the reflected power from weather particles. It is well known that the theoretical power extracted from the radar equation always overestimates by several dB as compared with that of the measured power. The authors propose a new idea of the reflection mechanism of partially coherent scattering from weather particles of each single frequency component. The mechanism is brought by the power reflected from the weather particles which distribute ununiformly in space in terms of the phase, although the reflection mechanism between the different frequency components is still incoherent scattering. The mechanism was simulated by the method of a random function, and it was found that the use of the correction factor newly obtained contributes to improve the accuracy of the present radar equation
