Abstract
Loading of metallic objects by surface impedances to reduce electromagnetic scattering has obvious practical applications. The methods for modifying the scattering from a conducting cylinder by impedance loading have been investigated by several authors. These studies were not concerned with the synthesis of loading impedances. The article develop synthesis procedures for determining optimal loading which result in zero scattering from a conducting cylinder in desired directions or at several frequencies. A theoretical study of the case of parallel electric polarisation is included.
