Abstract :
Shows some of the trends in portable computing technology which will determine the nature of future portable PC products. The speed of change of technology in the PC market is undiminished as the hardware platforms become capable of running more and more sophisticated yet easy to use software applications. In order to grow the market, manufacturers are producing terminals of greater processing power that can manipulate more natural data forms such as sound and video. Portable computers suffer from the fact that in many areas they are unable to use standard components due to the space and weight constraints imposed by the notebook PC format. The accepted size for a notebook PC is A4 and 3 Kg. Within that format, a manufacturer needs to house the following functions: processor, memory, storage, communications and expansion, battery and power supply, and display
