  • Abstract
A tool that can assist a user in the correction of a text document is described. The tool can be applied in either the off-line or the on-line mode. In the off-line mode, a number of corrections are marked on a printout of the document and captured by a scanner. The system automatically extracts the correction marks, interprets them, and updates the document file according to the correction marks. In the on-line mode, the corrections are interactively marked on the screen, saved in a list, and executed upon the user´s demand. The off-line and on-line mode use the same data structure for the representation of corrections. The system was tested by several users and has shown good results
