Abstract :
A novel compact orthomode junction (OMJ) is presented. It has been designed to meet the typical requirements imposed by Intelsat antennas working at the transmit/receive Ku band. The solution adopted for the OMJ configuration and the optimal design performed by means of accurate software analysis made it possible to achieve excellent electrical and mechanical performance. In fact, because of its attractive features, this OMJ constitutes an optimal choice in applications where severe requirements are given in term of polarization purity, power handling, passive intermodulation products, mass and envelope.
