Abstract :
A tuning formula for a PID controller is derived. For deriving the tuning formula, a genetic algorithm is applied to design PID controllers for a variety of processes. Then the correlation between the controller parameters and the parameters of the models is found and the tuning formula is derived. Several simulation examples are given to demonstrate the effectiveness and robustness of this formula
