Abstract :
Distributed resistive and/or discrete capacitive loading have been used to extend the bandwidth of cylindrical monopole antennas. These designs have generally been concerned with improving the match and pattern over a range of frequencies. We use the FDTD numerical method to evaluate the performance of five of these designs for pulse radiation. For a successful design, the reflected voltage in the feeding coaxial line should be small, the radiated field at broadside should resemble the exciting pulse, and the radiating efficiency should be high.
