Abstract :
In this paper we consider the problem of locating and tracking a moving target using a collection of sensors. A model for the dynamics of a moving target is developed, and statistics of the target is assumed known or at least estimated. A strategy for (suboptimal) sensor scheduling is proposed in terms of minimizing the weighted combination of the sensor usage cost and error covariance of the target´s location. The sensor scheduling strategy is described and simulations are presented to evaluate the performance of the estimator based on actual target traffic data
