Abstract
To analyze the roughness of the Earth´s surface that of ground glass surfaces is measured and expressed by the Minnaert constant k. The authors have used Landsat MSS data from 1972 to 1973 to obtain some indicatrices of the Earth´s surface. As training areas, the downtown area of San Francisco and Berkeley, and the desert areas in Nevada and California are selected. Then the results obtained with MSS data are compared with the results obtained with ground glass
