  • Abstract
The conventional electric wall source is compared with a new excitation technique, which is based on a current source formulation. Both methods are used to calculate the characteristic impedance of a microstrip line. The results are validated with exact values available for the characteristic impedance. It is shown that the new current source approach leads to a reduced necessary reference line length compared with the electric wall source.
