Abstract
Making use of the resources on the WWW fully and effectively has become important for more and more people. Based on this, we designed and implemented a prototype of a personalized intelligent navigation system, PINS. It assists users in finding and obtaining the information they are most interested in more efficiently. In order to gain portability, scalability, interoperability, reliability and good performance, a lot of work has been done on the design of PINS´s system architecture. Several kinds of architecture are discussed, and a Web-oriented computing system architecture using CORBA and Java technologies is presented as the final solution.
