Abstract
Recently, there has been an upsurge of interest in multi-hop relay in both academia and industry. By breaking a long-distance low-quality link into two or more high-quality segments, multi-hop relay is introduced to enable traffic/signaling forwarding between base station and mobile user with the benefits of throughput enhancement and coverage extension. In this paper, we propose a novel retransmission method, named SCM-based retransmission scheme, which is designed to take advantage of the multi-hop nature of the cellular network. Practically, we show that the proposed scheme improves performance with respect to its current solutions in terms of throughput, and cell latency.
