Abstract :
The feasibility of remote sensing of snow by microwave radar and radiometry is investigated in a 3-year program. The main goals of the program are to determine the capability of radar and radiometry to map the extent and characteristics of snow cover and the effect of forest canopies to snow mapping. The analysis is based on airborne data and ERS-1 SAR data. Preliminary results from the project are presented
