Abstract :
A new linear receiver structure, called a unified linear (UL) receiver is introduced in this paper. The strategy for the new linear receiver is to minimize the weighted sum of the multiple access interference (MAI) and the background noise where the weighting factor is adjusted according to the relative levels of the MAI and the background noise in order to improve the bit-error-rate performance.
