  • Abstract
An analytical evaluation of the ability for a node containing both 802.11b and UMTS radios to act as a gateway for real-time data applications between an 802.11b ad hoc network and an UMTS system is presented. Capacity estimates, characterized in terms of the number of VoIP streams that one node can relay simultaneously, along with throughput and delay characteristics are presented and evaluated. Factors limiting each portion of the network are also identified and potential solutions are presented where applicable
