Abstract :
The paper presents a theoretical analysis and experimental verification of an electro-optic sensor used to measure DC electric fields in space charge environment. Both unipolar and bipolar environments were analysed. The results suggest that in both cases the sensor output is linearly dependent on the measured electric field and independent on the density of space charge. To do the measurement, however, the prior knowledge of the type of charge (unipolar-bipolar) is essential
