Abstract
A 2D mesh Network-on-Chip (NoC) fabric with self-configurable and shared FIFOs routers for specific stream-oriented application is proposed in this paper. According to the communication character of local heaviness global lightness in stream-oriented application, the busy input port in routers can share the free and empty FIFOs of other input ports. So the depth of this input port FIFO is extended. Moreover, the router is self-configurable for that the free FIFOs can be shared by other input ports automatically. The NoC system of 10×10 nodes mesh topology with proposed router implements higher throughput than conventional one in stream-oriented cases, but the auxiliary area overhead, which is less than 3%, is negligible.
