Abstract :
We present a voltage gain control method of a voltage gain amplifier (VGA) in an ultra wideband (UWB) receiver, which can facilitate packet detection and improve the performance of initial timing synchronization. A hardware efficient AGC algorithm for UWB transmission is discussed. We also investigate the effect of the initial voltage gain level of the VGA at the radio frequency (RF) receiver in order to effectively conduct the initial timing acquisition in the UWB channel environment.
