Abstract
Ongoing testing of selected pieces of power house utility equipment is described. This utility testing process (UTP) is a combined plant, central engineering, and consultant effort to capitalize on energy reduction efforts already completed and to provide a basis for obtaining the best possible level of performance. UTP objectives, fundamentals of operation for compressed air, chiller, and boiler systems, and maintenance considerations are covered. Details presented include the basic measurement approach, a layman´s guide to available test equipment, techniques to employ, pitfalls to avoid, and evaluation of claims made by vendors
