Abstract :
Some experiments have been conducted in order to achieve a browse system for ADEOS (Advanced Earth Observing Satellite)/AVNIR (Advanced Visible and Near Infrared Radiometer) and OCTS (Ocean Color and Temperature Scanner) data. Major topics of the experiments are browse data transmission through ISDN (Integrated Service for Digital Network)/Net 64(64 Kbps of data rate) with JPEG (Joint Photographic Expert Group) data compression, browse parameters (decimation factor, data compression ratio, image size, etc.) selection for the specific sensor data, and so on. There are not a few parameters for JPEG scheme (Progressive or Sequential, Baseline or Extended, Arithmetic, Quantization level, Independent or Hierarchical, etc.) so that some experiments are required for determination of the parameters
