            Abstract : 
Planar microwave circuits generally contain resistors, capacitors, diodes etc.. These elements are interpreted as lumped elements in common simulation tools in spite of their finite geometric dimensions. Establishing a spectral domain analysis, by which lumped elements as well as line sections of finite surface impedance can be analyzed, it becomes possible to distinguish both cases. Thus, we can give a measure for the definition of quasi lumped elements based on electromagnetic field theory.
