Abstract
The electromagnetic scattering properties of periodic strips on a grounded dielectric have been of interest in the fields of optics and electromagnetics, and these structures were studied by some authors. Kalhor (1988) analysed the diffraction for the geometry using the point matching method. Jose and Nair (1987) reported the same kind of geometry which produces equivalent effect of perfectly blazed rectangular grooves based upon his experimental work. The paper examines the scattering characteristics of the geometry from the viewpoints of both the reflection grating and leaky wave geometry problems. Here the method is formulated for TE polarization, but a similar formulation can be made for TM polarization.
