Abstract :
The Diabetes Technology Program (DTP) at the University of Virginia is dedicated to improving diabetes management. The DTP has developed measures, indices, and graphs to help patients and medical professionals identify and assess trends related to diabetes. Based on these efforts, the project team designed and developed software that displays continuous glucose monitor (CGM) data and their related statistics. The result is a human-centered software prototype which uploads, stores, and visualizes multi-trial, multi-patient CGM data. The prototype allows users to easily and quantitatively compare treatment regimes. Quantitative comparison will enable physicians to tailor treatments to patients and eventually alleviate the severity of diabetes symptoms. The project produced a human-centered software prototype that has the potential to contribute to the field of diabetes management.
