Abstract :
WIA-PA network, which is specified by IEC/PAS 62601 for process automation based on IEEE 802.15.4, is used for industrial monitoring, measurement and control. A novel WIA-PA gateway technology is developed to support EtherNet/IP protocol. By a prototype of wireless gateway, a wastewater treatment system is implemented with a WIA-PA network monitoring subsystem and an EtherNet/IP network control subsystem. The WIA-PA network consists of wireless gateways and wireless instruments. Wireless instruments as sensor nodes sample the signal from the process of water treatment, and transmit data packets to the gateway using the WIA-PA wireless mesh network. The EtherNet/IP network consists of PLCs and actuators. According to data packets from the gateway, PLC as the center control unit transmits control packets to specific actuators. The gateway is designed based on AT91RM9200. In sensor node design, MSP430F1611 is adopted as processor. Wireless chip CC2420 is adopted in communication unit. The final ideal experiment has physically testified the feasibility and the stability of the gateway for protocol conversion.
