Abstract :
Before expert systems (ESs) can actively contribute to system development and maintenance, ways must be found whereby the ES can dynamically manipulate the interactions between all resources about which it has knowledge. This is particularly pertinent in object-oriented database management systems (OODBMSs) where objects evolve and new objects are added to the system over time. An OODBMS alone does not support true integration processing as opposed to data. Creating unanticipated combinations of processing components is not supported; it does not allow integration of processing defined in multiple independent object modules
