            Abstract :
Its been six years since the approval of 1149.1 and today many companies which have adopted boundary scan still use proprietary boundary scan solutions whether it be custom hardware, software, or both. Third party solutions do exist on both low cost PC platforms as well as In-Circuit platforms, however their use is not as widespread as some would have expected at this point. Perhaps this is due in part to the lack of standardization from a system level perspective. This lack of formal test standards continue to slow the progression of quality third party test solutions driving users of boundary scan technology to continue to roll their own solutions keeping test costs higher than necessary
