The implications of the revision of the ISO 9000 quality management standard are considered. Auditors will need greater understanding of business issues, managerial experience, ability to communicate effectively with CEOs, maturity, and credibility (many already have these). It will be necessary to test for these. Transitional arrangements are discussed. The auditing guidelines are being replaced by ISO 19011, which gives guidance in greater depth. Issues still for consideration are listed
